Chennai, July 22 -- Erasing the credits of the previous government of political rivals is nothing new in the Dravidian heartland, and the Vijay government appears to be no exception, as it is on a rechristening spree of schemes introduced by the DMK government of Stalin.

Expanding the 'Chief Minister's Breakfast Scheme' in primary schools, introduced by the earlier DMK government, up to the eighth class, the Vijay government has renamed it 'Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Breakfast Scheme', after the late Chief Minister and Congress stalwart. Under the scheme, breakfast was served to students of Class 1 to 5 to prevent hunger and easing the burden of working women.
