Chennai, May 25 -- In a huge relief to farmers, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay, in a major announcement on Monday evening, announced waiver of farm loans ranging from Rs 50,000 to Rs 5,000 benefitting the small and marginal farmers of the State.
This followed a high level meeting Vijay chaired with Agricuture and Farmers Welfare Minister R Vinod and other higher officials atthe State Secretariat in which the modalities of the farm loan waiver was discussed.
The loan waiver would benefit about 14,22,555 farmers who ahve availed loans and the government would incur an additional expenditure of Rs 2,044.46 crore annually.
