Chandigarh, April 13 -- Continuing its crackdown on corruption within the state, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) on Monday apprehended a Seed Certification Officer while he was allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000. The accused, identified as Amritpal Singh, was posted at the Punjab State Seed Certification Authority in Ludhiana.

According to an official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau, the arrest followed a complaint registered by a seed producer based in the Mansa district. The complainant, who operates M/s Punjab Agri Seed Farm, specializes in developing seeds from breeder stocks acquired from various agricultural universities.
