Bhandara, Aug. 6 -- : An elderly man who was allegedly assaulted by villagers on suspicion of practising witchcraft succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Nagpur , police said on Thursday.
The incident occurred at Masal village in Lakhandur taluka of Maharashtra's Bhandara district, where , Balram Lanjewar(65) was brutally beaten with sticks and wooden poles merely on suspicion of practising witchcraft.
He sustained grievous injuries and was shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital in Nagpur for advanced treatment. However, he died during treatment on Thursday, police said.
