Pune, Sept. 18 -- Urban development should not be measured merely by the construction of large and attractive buildings, but must also include preservation of art, culture and traditions, Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan said here on Friday.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony of the 38th Pune Festival at Shri Ganesh Kala Krida Rangmanch in Swargate, Radhakrishnan said development cannot be achieved by abandoning the roots of Indian culture. He said there was a need to preserve Indian traditions rather than merely imitate foreign cultures and lifestyles.
