Mumbai, May 10 -- Veteran Marathi singer and composer Govind Povale passed away in Mumbai on Sunday morning at the age of 93 following age-related ailments.

It was stated that Povale breathed his last at his residence in Mumbai, bringing to an end a musical journey that spanned more than seven decades in the field of Marathi Sugam Sangeet and light music.

Born on October 30, 1931, Govind Povale had begun his artistic career at a young age. A performance on All India Radio Mumbai had reportedly been delivered by him at the age of 15, following which recognition was earned through his singing and compositions in Marathi music circles.
