Singapore, Oct. 9 -- Max Verstappen claimed pole position for Saturday's Sprint race at the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix, edging George Russell and Charles Leclerc in a closelycontested qualifying session on Friday.

Fresh from his first victory of the season at last weekend's Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia, Verstappen continued his resurgence with a fastest lap of 1 minute, 31.156 seconds, beatingRussell by 0.120 seconds, with Leclerc a further 0.123 seconds adrift.
