Washington, Aug. 5 -- Venus Williams is returning to the US Open 2026.
Event organizers announced that the four-time Olympic gold medalist and seven-time major singles champion had joined the mixed doubles field, along with partner Alexander Bublik,on Tuesday.
The prize for winning? A cool USD$1 million for the victorious duo. The substantially increased prize money has been a major draw to reel in some of the sport's top players.
After the success of last year's Fan Week - the lead-up preceding the Grand Slam - mixed doubles will once again serve as the headliner. Last year, 78,000 spectators filled Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York City over the two days the semi-finals and finals were played, according to olympics.com.
