New Delhi, April 30 -- : In a historic boost to connectivity in Jammu and Kashmir, Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Thursday flagged off the extended Vande Bharat Express service linking Jammu with Srinagar, marking the first-ever direct passenger train connection between the two regions.

The move establishes seamless rail access to the Kashmir Valley from across India via a single interchange at Jammu, ushering in all-weather connectivity and is expected to significantly boost tourism, trade, and movement of essential goods.
