Prithviraj SinghDehradun, April 15 -- The Uttarakhand government has ordered schools to ring "water bells" to meet heatwave challanges this summer.

The state government on Wednesday ordered officials to keep adequate stocks of medicines and other equipment to meet the challanges of heatwave this summer.

State Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan on Wednesday issued directives to ring a "water bell" at regular intervals in the schools for mandatory drinking water for the students.

This, according to Bardhan, will keep them stay hydrated during the summer season.

Chief Secretary issued the directive while chairing a meeting with senior government officials to review heatwave preparedness in view of the rising temperature.
