Lucknow, June 10 -- Uttar Pradesh will be among the country's largest power consumers in 2026-27 as the state's peak power demand is projected to reach 33,033 MW, the second highest after Maharashtra.

According to the Central Electricity Authority's (CEA) Load Generation Balance Report, despite high demand from April to September, the state is expected to remain in surplus.

The tightest situation is expected in September, when demand will reach 33,033 MW and availability will be 33,230 MW - a difference of just 197 MW. The surplus is estimated at 3,204 MW in April, 1,374 MW in May, and 640 MW in June.
