Hyderabad, May 1 -- Telangana Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Friday strongly criticised the Central Government for hiking commercial LPG gas prices, calling it a move that places a heavy burden on the common man.
Reacting to the increase in the price of a 19-kg commercial gas cylinder to Rs 993, the minister said the steep hike of around 30 to 35 per cent would severely impact small-scale vendors, hotels, cafes, and restaurants.
He alleged that the decision was taken immediately after the conclusion of the West Bengal elections, terming it an attempt to mislead the public. According to him, implementing the hike just after the polls amounts to "cheating the common man."Reddy expressed concern that repeated p...
