Hyderabad, March 29 -- Telangana Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Sunday assured the Assembly that the Congress government is prioritising the completion of Krishna Basin irrigation projects, while working to overcome the financial burden inherited from the previous BRS regime.
Intervening during budget discussions, the Minister said delays in project execution were due to heavy debts and high-cost borrowings incurred earlier.
He alleged that despite spending Rs 1.81 lakh crore on irrigation, the previous government failed to create new ayacut in key projects like Palamuru-Rangareddy, while diverting major funds to the Kaleshwaram project.
