Washington, June 27 -- The United States carried out airstrikes on Iranian military targets after President Donald Trump accused Tehran of a "foolish violation" of a fragile ceasefire, following an attack on a commercial vessel in the Strait of Hormuz.
The escalation marks a sharp new test of a MoU Memorandum of Understanding reached on June 17 earlier between Washington and Tehran aimed at reducing hostilities and keeping the vital shipping corridor open.
