Washington, May 1 -- Senator Richard Blumenthal said that a possible US military strike on Iran is now being seriously considered, based on recent briefings.
Blumenthal refused to divulge the specific details because some of the information was classified, but added that the possibility of a strike is "very much on the table," CNN quoted Blumenthal as saying on Thursday.
He called the situation "deeply disturbing," warning that any military action could put American troops in danger and lead to heavy casualties.
At the same time, he said the idea of a strike isn't new, noting that military leaders have been discussing such options for a while.
