Singapore, May 31 -- US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth said on Saturday that negotiations with Iran were moving in a positive direction, though he stressed that the US military remains prepared for further action if diplomacy fails to deliver a deal acceptable to President Donald Trump.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore, Hegseth said the administration's demands had not changed throughout the negotiations, reports CBS News.

"Any deal that the president is willing to make, he's only going to make it if he believes it's a great deal for our country and the security of the world," Hegseth said.
