Washington, March 22 -- The head of US Central Command (CENTCOM) has said Iran's capacity to threaten the Strait of Hormuz has been "degraded", as US forces continue a sustained campaign to weaken Tehran's military stranglehold on the vital maritime corridor.

Admiral Brad Cooper said that the US strikes had targeted an underground coastal facility in the country which was used to store anti-ship cruise missiles, mobile launchers, and other systems capable of threatening international shipping. The site was reportedly hit with multiple 5,000lb (2,268kg) bombs.
