Zurich / Burgenstock, June 21 -- Direct negotiations between the United States and Iran are set to begin in Switzerland on Sunday, with Pakistan acting as a key mediator, as senior officials from all three countries converge for a new round of talks aimed at implementing the recently signed 14-point Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and discussing further steps to progress to the second phase of the peace deal especially on the nuclear issues and achieve a ceasefire in Lebanon.

As the 60-day timeframe set under the preliminary agreement to reach a final deal on Iran's nuclear programme will prove challenging for the negotiators.
