Brussels, April 2 -- European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen held a call with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer to discuss escalating tensions in the Middle East, particularly in the Strait of Hormuz.

Von der Leyen warned that Iran's actions are putting global economic stability at risk and emphasised that the EU will work with partners to ensure freedom of navigation resumes as soon as possible.
