URMP meet in Ranchi focuses on integrated water management

Ranchi, April 16 -- A meeting of the Multi Stakeholder Working Group (MSWG) under the Urban River Management Plan (URMP) was held in Ranchi on Thursday to prepare a strategy for conservation and management of urban water sources.

The meeting, chaired by municipal commissioner Sushant Gaurav, was attended by officials, experts and academicians from various institutions.

Gaurav said an integrated approach was required to manage water sources across the city, adding that focusing on individual rivers or ponds would not yield desired results.

"All water sources need to be linked under a coordinated framework for effective management," he said.
