New Delhi, May 24 -- The union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Sunday conducted the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination-2026 at 2,072 venues across 83 cities in the country, with nearly 5.49 lakh candidates appearing for the examination.

According to provisional data released by the Commission, a total of 8,19,732 candidates had registered for the examination, while around 67 per cent candidates appeared. In comparison, around 61 per cent of the nearly 9.5 lakh applicants had appeared in the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination-2025.
