Mumbai, June 23 -- The monsoon session of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly began on a tense note on Tuesday, with a heated clash between the ruling Mahayuti alliance and the Opposition over ministerial accountability and the and the delegation of powers in the House.
The disruption started when Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray objected to ministers or junior ministers responding on behalf of absent cabinet colleagues. Unsatisfied with the Chair's explanation, Thackeray staged a walkout, accusing the government of violating legislative norms.
Speaking outside the Vidhan Bhavan, Thackeray criticised Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, alleging administrative inefficiency and seriousness as well as lack of preparedness.
