Mumbai, July 9 -- The collapse of a massive garbage mound at a landfill in Pimpri-Chinchwad triggered heated exchanges in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly on Thursday, with opposition parties accusing the state government of negligence as rescue teams continued searching for people trapped beneath the debris.
The government informed the House that one person had died in the incident, while efforts were underway to locate and rescue several others believed to be buried under the collapsed waste.
