Kolkata, May 10 -- Investigators probing the sensational murder of Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari's close aide and executive assistant, Chandranath Rath, have stumbled upon a crucial lead by tracking digital payment records from the Bali Nivedita Setu toll plaza.

According to police sources, investigators are now closely examining UPI transaction data linked to a silver-coloured Nissan Micra believed to have been used in the attack. The vehicle had allegedly intercepted Rath's car shortly before the shooting in Madhyamgram on May 6.

Sources in the investigation said the suspected vehicle crossed the Bali toll plaza and paid the toll fee through a digital transaction.
