Dharamshala, Aug. 25 -- Children from families displaced by the Pong Dam project will receive 'financial assistance' of up to Rs 1 lakh to pursue higher education, Deputy Commissioner (Relief and Rehabilitation), Raja Ka Talab, Kulveer Singh Rana said.
He announced that the Pong Dam Oustees Development Agency (PODA) Fund Committee had decided to provide assistance towards admission and tuition fees to eligible students pursuing vocational training, professional courses and higher education at government educational institutions after passing Classes 10 or 12.
Under the scheme, eligible students can receive education assistance of up to Rs 1 lakh, subject to the prescribed criteria.
