Vidya Shankar RaiLucknow, Sept. 28 -- Following the announcement of the election schedule for the 10 Rajya Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh, deliberations have intensified within the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over its possible candidates, with the party reportedly considering several new faces.
Party sources said the BJP may choose not to give a second chance to some sitting members and could instead field fresh candidates. The names of former union Minister Smriti Irani and BJP National General Secretary Harish Dwivedi are among those being discussed. Rajveer Singh Raju is also being considered as a possible replacement for BL Verma, sources said.
The final decision, however, rests with the party's central leadership.
