Lucknow, May 16 -- Uttar Pradesh is set to undertake another major experiment aimed at linking cow protection with the rural economy, scientific farming and employment generation.

For the first time in the country, genetic engineering technology based on cow dung, cow urine and microbial research will be used in agriculture. The discovery made by researchers at IIT Kanpur has laid the foundation for a new cow-based gene revolution in farming.

Officials here on Saturday said the organic fertilizer developed through this technology will be 15 times more effective than traditional organic manure.
