Lucknow, Aug. 23 -- The monsoon, which has brought widespread rainfall across Uttar Pradesh for nearly a week, is now showing signs of gradual weakening. However, the Meteorological Department has forecast rain in 58 districts on Sunday and issued a heavy rain alert for six districts.

According to the Meteorological Department, rain will continue in the Vindhya region and some districts of eastern Uttar Pradesh for the next two days.

However, after Monday, heavy rainfall is not expected in the state for some time. Rainfall activity is likely to decrease with the onset of westerly winds from August 24.
