Lucknow, June 2 -- To reduce road accidents across the state, the Uttar Pradesh government has encouraged compliance with traffic regulations and fostered a culture of responsible driving among citizens. Various awareness and enforcement campaigns are being conducted.
In this regard, the Transport Department, in coordination with other departments concerned, carried out a special enforcement drive and took large-scale action within just seven days.
According to the Transport Department, during the special enforcement campaign conducted across Uttar Pradesh from May 20 to May 26, a total of 57,186 challans were issued for traffic violations, while 2,669 vehicles were seized.
