Lucknow, Sept. 19 -- The Uttar Pradesh government has approved Rs 300 crore for converting primary schools under the Basic Education Council into "smart schools", with financial and administrative approval also granted for the project.

The government has also prescribed technical specifications for setting up smart classrooms in the schools.

The details were contained in an order issued by Special Secretary, Basic Education Section-5, Awadhesh Kumar Tiwari, to the State Project Director, Samagra Shiksha.

Additional Chief Secretary, Basic and Secondary Education, Partha Sarathi Sen Sharma, said approval had been granted for utilisation of the Rs 300 crore for establishing smart classrooms in council primary schools.
