Lucknow, May 24 -- Uttar Pradesh is reeling under intense heatwave conditions particularly in Bundelknd and southern parts of the state.
The entire state has been experiencing intense sunshine since Sunday morning and humidity has increased due to slow wind speed.
A heatwave alert has been issued for 54 districts on Sunday, with a red alert for 10 of these districts.
However, there is also a thunderstorm and rain alert in 24 districts of western Uttar Pradesh.
The Meteorological Department says that a western disturbance has activated and its effects can be felt in western Uttar Pradesh, especially in the districts bordering Delhi.
