Lucknow, April 15 -- Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) President Ajay Rai on Wednesday launched a sharp attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, questioning his commitment to women's empowerment and accusing the ruling BJP of misleading the public on the issue of women's reservation.
Addressing a press conference at the state Congress office in Lucknow, Rai alleged that the Prime Minister had failed to accord respect to his own wife and therefore could not be expected to ensure dignity and equality for women across the country. He termed the BJP's stance on women's reservation as "mere rhetoric" and accused the party of lacking genuine intent to implement the policy.
