Lucknow, Aug. 23 -- On the 91st martyrdom day of freedom fighter Amar Shaheed Gulab Singh Lodhi, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid tribute by offering flowers at his statue in Jhandewalan Park, Aminabad, on Sunday.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister said that on August 23, 1935, at the age of just 32, the great son of Mother India, immortal martyr Gulab Singh Lodhi, challenged British rule and hoisted the Indian tricolour in this very park.

At that time, the tricolour was a symbol of independence. The cowardly British government responded to his courage with bullets, and he became a martyr for the country's freedom.
