New Delhi, Oct. 1 -- Narendra Bhooshan, a 1992-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre, has assumed charge as Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), Government of India, said officials on Thursday.

He is replacing Tanmay Kumar, an IAS officer of the 1993 batch from the Rajasthan cadre, who presided over the position for nearly two years - from 19 October 2024 to 30 September 2026.

An engineer by training, Bhooshan brings with him over three decades of administrative experience across the Central and state governments, with exposure to energy, infrastructure, industry, agriculture, urban development, finance and land-resource management.
