Hardoi, Feb. 27 -- A powerful explosion ripped through a house in Hardoi today evening when firecrackers were allegedly being manufactured illegally inside the residential building, officials said.
The blast occurred in Sandi town's Khidkiyan locality around 4 pm. The impact was so severe that the roof and walls of the two-storey house collapsed like a pack of cards. The explosion was heard from a considerable distance, and cracks were reported in nearby houses.
According to police, the house belongs to Dilshad, a licensed firecracker manufacturer who operates a factory on the outskirts of the town. Due to increased demand for firecrackers ahead of the Holi festival, crackers were allegedly being made illegally inside the residence.
