Bahraich, Sept. 1 -- A farmer sleeping ouside his house was dragged away by a tiger and killed him early on Tuesday.

The incident occurred in Mahbubnagar village, part of the Kakraha Forest Range.

Ram Singh (32) half-eaten body was found in a sugarcane field about 700 meters from his house at around 6:00 a.m. The tiger had eaten both of the farmer's legs and part of his stomach from below his thighs. Claw marks were found on his face and several parts of his body.

An atmosphere of panic has gripped the village after the incident. A forest department team arrived at the scene and gathered information. Preparations are underway to set up a cage to capture the tiger.
