Lucknow, April 30 -- A shocking construction accident in Uttar Pradesh's capital Lucknow has raised serious concerns over safety standards at building sites.

In the Vibhuti Khand area of Gomti Nagar, a retaining wall of an under-construction hospital near the NTPC office collapsed today morning during excavation work. The sudden cave-in occurred after soil near the foundation reportedly gave way, trapping two labourers under debris.

Panic spread at the site as local residents rushed to carry out rescue operations before emergency services arrived.

Eyewitnesses said people worked for nearly half an hour using bare hands to remove mud and rescue the trapped workers. Police and fire brigade teams later joined the operation.
