Bahraich, March 31 -- In a major operation, the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) has arrested Maulana Abdul Salim for allegedly making objectionable remarks against Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and his mother.
The accused was apprehended from Bihar and later produced before a court in Bahraich, which remanded him to judicial custody.
According to officials, the controversy began after a video of Abdul Salim making derogatory statements went viral on social media, sparking widespread outrage among Hindu organizations and the general public. Several FIRs were registered against him in Bahraich and other districts under charges related to hurting religious sentiments and violations of the IT Act.
