Ghaziabad, March 8 -- The Crime Branch and Nandgram police in Ghaziabad have frozen movable and immovable assets worth Rs 12.55 crore belonging to two brothers allegedly involved in a codeine-based cough syrup smuggling racket, officials disclosed today.
According to DCP City Dhawal Jaiswal, the accused - Vibhor Rana and Vishal Singh, residents of Shastri Nagar in Saharanpur - were part of a gang that smuggled codeine-based cough syrup to several states. The police had earlier arrested eight accused on November 3, 2025 in connection with the case.
During the operation, police seized 15.73 lakh bottles of codeine-based cough syrup hidden among sacks in 1,150 boxes loaded in four trucks. The seized consignment was estimated to be worth arou...
