Sant Kabir Nagar, April 28 -- A demolition drive targeting an allegedly unauthorized madrasa in the Motinagar locality of Khalilabad was halted following an interim order from the High Court.

The action, which began early Sunday morning, had continued for nearly 13 hours before being stopped.

The structure, built on plot number 154 and spread over approximately 640 square metres, is a three-storey building comprising 25-30 rooms and around 50 pillars. Authorities had termed the construction illegal due to the absence of an approved building plan.

According to administrative sources, the madrasa was constructed by Maulana Shamsul Huda Khan, allegedly using foreign funding, at an estimated cost of Rs 5 crore. The Sub-Divisional Magistrate ...
