Shamli, June 26 -- Dreaded criminal Mehtab, carrying a reward of Rs 50,000, was killed in an encounter with police early Friday morning.
The criminal was fleeing after robbing a farmer's mobile phone. Police chased him for 12 kilometres and cornered him. Seeing himself cornered, he opened fire with a carbine. The criminal was killed in police retaliation.
The encounter took place in the Kandhla police station area on the Delhi-Saharanpur Highway.
