Chennai, Sept. 30 -- The Madras High Court on Wednesday rejected an election petition filed by losing TVK candidate C.Chinthamani challenging the victory of senior DMK leader and former Law Minister S.Regupathy from Thirumayam Assembly constituency in the April 23 polls.
Reghupathy was elected from the seat in Pudukkottai district by a margin of 1,492 votes for the third time in succession and for the fourth term to the Assembly. He was earlier elected from the seat in 1991 on AIADMK ticket.
He polled 58,201 votes as against 56,709 votes secured by TVK nominee Chinthamani. P.K.Vairamuthu of AIADMK finished third with 55,464 votes.
