Davanagere (Karnataka), June 27 -- Calling the alleged theft of devotees' donations at the Shri Ram Temple "a grave sin", union Minister of State for Railways and Jal Shakti V Somanna on Saturday said those found guilty of misusing money offered in the name of God would face strict action.
"There is no greater sin than misusing God's name. Committing wrongdoing in a sacred place and betraying the faith of millions of devotees is unacceptable," Somanna told reporters here while reacting to reports of alleged irregularities involving the temple's donation funds.
He said the alleged misappropriation had deeply hurt the sentiments of devotees and stressed that places of worship must remain symbols of faith, honesty and integrity.
