New York, June 2 -- The United Nations has warned that its development coordination system is under severe financial pressure even as global demand for support continues to rise, urging urgent reforms under its new "UN80 Initiative" to strengthen delivery across countries.

UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed told an ECOSOC meeting in New York that the world is facing "extraordinary pressure and rising expectations for sustainable development", alongside "escalating crises, rising debt burdens and widening inequalities".
