Geneva, Sept. 7 -- UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk on Monday urged states to stop transferring arms to Israel where there is a risk they could be used to violate international law, while calling on companies to end business practices supporting Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank.
Addressing the opening of the 63rd session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, Turk said Israel's annexation of the occupied West Bank was "unfolding, unobstructed," despite a ruling by the International Court of Justice.
"What more will it take for states to take action to prevent the entrenchment of occupation across land earmarked for Palestinians under the two-state solution?" Turk said.
