Geneva, July 23 -- United Nations experts on Thursday condemned the renewed hostilities between the United States and Iran, warning that the latest escalation risks civilian lives, regional stability and global maritime trade just weeks after both sides signed a 14-point Memorandum of Understanding aimed at ending the conflict.
The experts said abandoning commitments under the agreement "damages prospects for peace, harms the human rights of victims of war, and undermines the mutual trust in agreements that is necessary to permanently end conflict."They said military strikes and counter-strikes between the United States and Iran on July 12-13 marked a significant escalation, with reported impacts across several countries in the region.
