Kyiv, June 1 -- Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has accused Russia of abducting Ukrainian children and training them to fight against their own country in the future.

Saying that Kyiv has evidence to substantiate its claims, he said the act was part of a broader Russian campaign geared towards erasing the Ukrainian national identity.

In an interview with CBS News, Zelensky claimed that the Russian Army steals children from occupied Ukrainian territories, and is training and indoctrinating them to take up arms against their homeland after removing them from their families and communities.

"When these children grow up and they push these boys to the battlefield," Zelensky said when asked about the allegations.
