Kyiv, July 30 -- Ukrainian forces carried out 59 attacks on 16 municipalities in Russia's Belgorod region over the past 24 hours, while air defence units intercepted 97 drones, acting Governor Alexander Shuvayev said on Thursday.

"Over the past 24 hours, the Ukrainian armed forces carried out 59 attacks on Belgorod region. Thanks to the professional work of air defence crews and the units involved, 97 drones were shot down and neutralised," Shuvayev said.

He said the attacks included eight strikes using multiple launch rocket systems and artillery, along with four instances of explosives being dropped from drones. The strikes targeted Belgorod city and 15 municipal districts.
