London, Sept. 8 -- Britain on Tuesday announced new legislation to impose tougher sanctions on Iran, expanding restrictions on trade, finance and shipping as part of efforts to curb Tehran's nuclear programme and other activities the UK describes as hostile.
"Today we are laying legislation which will tackle Iranian nuclear activity and other hostile Iranian activity," Minister of State Stephen Doughty said in a statement to Parliament.
