Mumbai, Aug. 5 -- Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray on Wednesday appeared before a local court in neghbouring Kalyan city in connection with a 2009 defamation case filed by late NCP leader Vasant Davkhare, and denied all charges against him.
The court recorded Thackeray's statement under Section 313 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and former MP Anand Paranjpe are also named as accused in the case.
Shinde is yet to appear before the court.
In a coincidence, the Supreme Court in New Delhi also heard a separate matter on Wednesday related to the dispute over the Shiv Sena name and election symbol.
